Tim Sales is the author of this astounding educational video and he also brings on a colleague in Dr. Charles King to help shape the truth behind our industry.

How many of you have gone out and set your appointments and showed the plan, only to hear this very question of skepticism mid-way through your presentation? No one? Well I certainly have in my time. Talk about really being a total buzz kill if you will to your appointment. Then how do we deal with the criticism? I’ve often stumbled over words and tried my best to deflect the notion. Believe me, it’s certainly not easy. I mean seriously, I’ve had people tell me I’ll be in jail within the year if I keep working my business. That’s right, people all over still think the business model of Network Marketing is illegal and scams everyone. Why? Because those who do not take the time to become educated will label you and your opportunity. It’s human nature. People won’t stop staring at a car crash. Others are afraid of change. People will tell you their friends did, “that kind of thing,” and made no money. Oh well, off to the next appointment.

The pyramid aspect of the argument is not just about the shape. Sales explains it’s not the shape of a pyramid that scare people away it’s the fact that most think only the people at the top earn the money. WRONG!

Dr. King is a professor of marketing at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He attained his high rank from Harvard University. The one point during the video where he began to research and discover the productivity of Network Marketing is when graduating seniors were coming back to campus because they couldn’t find jobs. People who graduated and went out to the workforce were coming back because they were losing their jobs. They had nothing to offer. Well, now Network Marketing is actually taught in the marketing department at the University of Illinois-Chicago to educate people how the industry works and the potential that can be reached. To me, this segment blew me away and really stressed the importance of education. The type of education you get from plugging into leaders and learning about the industry through books, webinars, audios, blogs, and anything else you can get your hands on.
